Yoga for people over 75 with high blood pressure combines exercises, attention to breathing, and rest. With high blood pressure, your level of effort should reflect how you feel and any prescribed treatment.
This 20-minute class includes “Downward-Facing Cat Pose”, “Bridge Pose” and “Reclining Alternating Diagonal Body Stretch”. In Bridge, pay attention to how your feet support you and to the position of your pelvis and back. You'll finish by lying down to rest.
Check the class with your doctor, including any breathing techniques and inverted poses in the routine. Don't use the class to try to lower your blood pressure when it is markedly elevated.
