Yoga for football players complements training on the pitch with leg stretches and hip mobility exercises. Hip mobility matters for a long stride, changes of direction and drawing your leg back to kick the ball. You'll practice lunges and forward bends, stretch your thigh muscles and engage your core.
In this 20-minute class, you'll try “Deep Side Squat with One Leg Extended”, “Pigeon Pose 1”, and “Plow Pose with Hands Gripping the Feet”. In Pigeon Pose, find a comfortable position for your hips and make sure your knee is free of pain. You'll lie down to rest at the end of the class.
After an intense game, choose your level of effort according to how you feel and avoid forcing stretches in sore muscles. After an injury, choose a recovery program tailored to your needs.
