Yoga for football players complements training on the pitch with leg stretches and hip mobility exercises. Hip mobility matters for a long stride, changes of direction and drawing your leg back to kick the ball. You'll practice lunges and forward bends, stretch your thigh muscles and engage your core.
In this hour-and-a-half class, you'll try “Dynamic Toe Balance”, “Dynamic Alternating Standing Twist” and “Reclining Wide-Angle Pose with Leg Grip”. Towards the end of the class, you'll practice the breathing technique “Alternate Nostril Breathing Pranayama”. You'll finish with a rest lying down.
Choose the 90-minute class on a day when that level of effort feels manageable and fits with your other training.
After an intense game, choose your level of effort according to how you feel and avoid forcing stretches in sore muscles. After an injury, choose a recovery program tailored to your needs.
