Yoga for swimmers complements your swimming training with exercises for shoulder and back mobility and for leg and core strength. Being able to move your shoulders freely is important for your stroke, while your abdominal and back muscles help you maintain your body position in the water. Stretches are combined with strengthening poses.
You'll explore “Warrior 2 Pose”, “Dynamic Plank on One Arm and One Leg”, and “Alternating Arm and Leg Movement Lying on the Back” in this 20-minute class. Warrior poses let you work on leg strength and core stability. You'll lie down to rest at the end of the class.
Choose your level of effort with your swimming workouts and any accumulated fatigue in mind. If your arms are already tired from swimming, keep shoulder movements within a smaller range.
