The Mat Pilates series of lessons is designed to strengthen all the major muscle groups of the body involved in Pilates. These include the core muscles, the back muscles, and the legs.
The oblique abdominal muscles and the abs are strengthened; a strong lower back stabilizes the body; the glutes and thighs provide hip rotation and help maintain balance; the chest muscles, the shoulder girdle, forearms, and wrists support the body and help coordinate movements.
During practice it is important to focus on the exercise being performed and to observe your breathing.
Exercises should be performed smoothly, with controlled movements and balanced effort.
Unlike most yoga exercises, Pilates movements are dynamic, like kriyas in yoga, so the predominant practice in our series is dynamic.
But for balance this practice is complemented by static asanas that stabilize the body's muscles and center it (centering in Pilates involves several important muscle groups – the deep layer of the abdomen and back, the diaphragm, the pelvic floor, and the glutes, along with the hip adductors).
Regular training will positively affect appearance: posture improves, shoulders open, and the figure becomes more toned.
Practice with us regularly and you will feel the results!
Wishing you success in your golf game!
