Yoga for the back combines muscle strengthening with work on spinal mobility. Stretches, torso movements and steady poses also engage your legs and abdominal muscles.
In this 20-minute class, you'll try “Cat Pose on Elbows with Leg Extended Back”, “Seated Forward Bend” and “Bridge Pose with Hands Clasped”. In the seated forward bend, you'll feel a stretch along the backs of your legs. Fold forward smoothly, without jerking. You'll finish by lying down to rest.
Choose movements that don't cause pain. If you have recurring discomfort or a spinal condition, check the routine with a qualified healthcare professional.
