Please keep in mind: 1. Exercising is one of the best treatments for diabetes type 2. 2. Exercising is a good way to stay in good shape, but can not be a treatment for diabetes type 1. 3. The duration and intensity of yoga workouts should be strictly individual. Listen to your body and try to do exercises as far as you feel comfortable.
Check out contraindications:
Any physical activity in the acute period of myocardial infarction, with severe ketoacidosis, lactic acidosis, hyperosmolar states is absolutely prohibited. As you feel better, physical activity can be increased, but under the supervision of a medical care provider.
A person with diabetes may have limitations in exercising due to severe concomitant conditions - ischemic heart disease, arthritis and arthrosis, problems with the spine, varicose veins and many others. Each case is individual, so it is highly recommended to consult your medical care provider before start exercising.
Before classes, please check your glucose level:
1. In case 5 mmol / l and less, you are highly recommended to have a snack (for example cheese sandwich), drink a glass of milk (instead of milk, you can eat an apple); 2. In case 5–10 mmol / l, you are highly recommended to eat a fruit (for example apple, banana or orange); 3. In case 10+ mmol / l – nothing special required. 4. In case 13+ mmol / l, you are highly recommended to skip exercising.
