Yoga for anxiety relief brings your attention to movement, body position, and breathing. Strengthening poses and stretches give you something specific to focus on: your muscles as they work and the sensations in your body.
In this 60-minute class, you'll practice “Chair Kriya in Deep Squat”, “Warrior 3 Pose” and “Prone Boat Pose”. In Warrior III, you'll balance on one leg and pay attention to the position of your pelvis. Toward the end, you'll practice the breathing exercise “Alternate Nostril Breathing Pranayama”. You'll finish by lying down to rest.
Put your phone aside and devote this hour to movement, breathing, and rest.
Choose a level of effort and a breathing pattern that don't increase your anxiety, and don't force yourself to hold a pose for a long time. If anxiety interferes with everyday life, seek professional help.
