Yoga for anxiety relief brings your attention to movement, body position, and breathing. Strengthening poses and stretches give you something specific to focus on: your muscles as they work and the sensations in your body.
In this 90-minute class, you'll try “Warrior 2 Pose”, “Comfortable Boat Pose 1”, and “Bridge Pose with Hands Clasped”. Warrior poses let you work on leg strength and core stability. Near the end, you'll practice the breathing exercise “Alternate Nostril Breathing Pranayama”. You'll lie down to rest at the end of the class.
Try a 90-minute class on a free evening or a day off, if you're used to sessions of this length.
Choose a level of effort and a breathing pattern that don't increase your anxiety, and don't force yourself to hold a pose for a long time. If anxiety interferes with everyday life, seek professional help.
