Yoga for the chest and posture includes arm movements, stretches and backbends to work on upper-back mobility. The sequence also includes exercises for other parts of the body.
In this 90-minute class, you'll try “Bridge Pose”, “Half Lotus Pose with Arms Overhead” and “Reclining Upward Arm Stretch”. In Bridge Pose, pay attention to how your feet support you and to the position of your pelvis and back. Towards the end of the class, you'll practice the breathing technique “Alternate Nostril Breathing Pranayama”. You'll finish with a rest lying down.
On a free day, you can try a longer class if you're already used to 90 minutes of practice.
In backbends, keep your head in a comfortable position and go only as far as you can without straining your lower back. Move your arms smoothly, without unnecessary shoulder tension.
