The longer yoga practice for running is designed as a separate class between runs. Strengthening poses, mobility exercises and stretches focus on leg strength, hip mobility and core stability. When you run, your core muscles help hold your body in position, while mobile hips let your legs move freely.
This 90-minute class includes “Standing Forward Bend with Bent Leg Raised”, “Three-Legged Downward-Facing Dog” and “Seated Forward Bend”. In the seated forward bend, you'll feel a stretch along the backs of your legs. Fold forward smoothly, without jerking. You'll finish by lying down to rest.
You can do the 90-minute class separately from your run, as a session in its own right.
Choose your level of effort with your running training in mind. If your legs are tired, ease off or rest.
